Colle Santa Lucia

Historical information In this area, an iron mineral "vein" was discovered. A mineral which was perfect for the production of arms (embossed with a lamb symbol) that made the Fursil territory important and desirable. The mining in Fursil was born and gave to all the valley a great economical importance. This land was often disputed over for its geographical location (it was in a borderline area between the Bishop of Bressanone and the Republic of Venice) and for the value of the extracted minerals. We can find proof of this in the center of the village where a house (dated 1612), " la cesa de Jan" has iron windows made with the local minerals. This building was the headquarters of the mining operations and states the importance of Colle during this extraction activity.
