Historical information Calalzo is with high probability the oldest center of Cadore. In Lagole, in fact, about 2500 years ago there was already a sanctuary dedicated to a healing god. Many archaeological things have been found especially bronze statutes and a great number of old inscriptions now shown in the museum Magnifica Comunità in Pieve di Cadore. The Regola di Calalzo made here its own laude since 1272. It is here that in 1878 Giovanni Lozza and the brothers Angelo and Leone Frescura started the first eye glasses factory on the river banks Molinà. Now this area is known throughout the world for the production of glasses. One should also visit the S. Biagio parish where there are the four doorports by Orazio Vecellio; the S. Anna church in the little town of Rizzios, where beautiful paintings from the '600 and many relics from the XVIII century are kept. In the town of Lagole there are the suggestive high iron level spring waters famous for their healing proprieties.
