It is a splendid example of a mountainous barrier. On the east, it closes off the Agordina valley, becoming the background for populated areas of the Valle Agordina.

The mountainous chain of Cime dell'Auta is located south-east of Marmolada and divides the valleys of Franzedas, Pettorina and Cordevole from the Valle del Biois. The visible part of the Valle del Biois is surely the most significant with its lush woodsy slopes, where the rock walls of the Cime dell'Auta emerge vertically and imposing.


This mountain is well-known because it was theatre of the First World War.

Monte Cridola, is the most famous peak. It is located south of the Valle del Cadore, between the Spalti del Toro (Bastion of the Bull) and Passo Mauria.

The Cime del Focobon and Monte Mulaz are part of the mountainous chain of Pale di San Martino. They make up the northern part which looks like a forest of towers facing the Valle del Biois on one side and the deep valley of Comelle and Valle di Gares on the other.

Situated in the center of the Dolomites, the Civetta Chain is shaped like a semi-circle. It is bordered on the South-west by Valle del Cordevole, on the North by the Val Fiorentina, and on the East by Val di Zoldo. On the south-east, the Duran mountain pass separates it from San Sebastiano's Chain- Tamer.

Large Massif located between the Landine valleys. It is possible take a walk around the four mountain passes surrounding it.

Rite, Col Dur, Punta and Agneléssa (Spiz Zuél) are minor elevations of the Zoldo mountains. The fact that they all stand along a characteristic alignment is evidence that they all have a common structural origins.

Chiudono a nord la Valle del Cadore. Lunga catena montuosa chiusa tra il Monte Antelao e la Val d'Ansiei. Hanno cime frastagliate, uno dei picchi più famosi è "il Pupo" per la sua somiglianza a un bambino.

It is defined the "Queen of the Dolomites." You can admire the Massiccio della Marmolada from any point in the Dolomites, thanks to its majesty. It represents the kingdom of excursionists and alpine mountain climbers.

These two groups form a chain that is imposing even if it is not very high. It runs North to South. Its Eastern boundary is the Maè stream and it's western boundary is marked by the furrow dug by the Pampera torrent, which separates it from Tamer- San Sebastinano.

It is an important mountain chain that closes off the west side of the Agordina basin. It towers over the inhabitants of Voltago-Frassenè and over the Gosaldo basin with its Croda Grande (Large Crag).

It is the second highest peak after the Marmolada. It is one of the most famous mountains of the Dolomites. It offers noteworthy possibilities for hiking lovers and lovers of alpine mountain climbing.

Monte Tudaio is the chain that is geographically included among the Alpi Carniche. It faces the Piave valley, Central Cadore, and the Val d'Ansiei.
It is characterized by military fortifications used during the First World War.

Imposing. This is the exact term used to define this interesting mountain chain. Indeed, whoever finds themselves halfway up the Valle of San Lucano, and lifts up their eyes can't help but have that feeling.

The "Sass de Pelf", as it was called in ancient times, rises isolated between the valleys of Boite, Zoldo and the Val Fiorentina. It is a unique mountain because of its amphitheater shape, that makes it look like a throne, when seen from below.

It includes all of the southwestern area of Arabba.

Famous for its very jagged aspect, it closes off the Valle del Cadore on the south. One of its peaks is called "Il Campanil della Val Montanaia" (The bell-tower of the Montanaia valley) because of it narrow elongated aspect.

These three very famous peaks stand miraculously compact and harmonically aligned. They are splendid in their shapes and colors, emerging on that grand pedestal covered with white flow of gravel. The cliffs on the southern face are the most suggestive from an esthetic point of view.
