Accessibility From Feltre to Alano (23 km) along the state road in the direction of Treviso. Just past the bridge of the Tegorzo Stream, make a right all the way to the old bridge: don't cross it, but keep on going straight up-hill towards the depression where you will find Alano. Around this town, there is a crown of pre Alpine mountains that belong to the Grappa group: south, you will find the mountain Tomba (869 m) - Palon (1305 m); east, you will find Mount Casonet (1614 m), Col dell'Orso (1670 m) and Mount Valderia (1477 m); north, you will find beyond the Schievenin Valley, the mountains Peurna (1383 m) and Santo (1538 m). On these mountains near the Grappa and in the Alano depression as well, many bloody fights took place during the war 1915-18. Fights that affected the mountains as much as the surrounding towns which had serious damages. In the parish of Alano there are paintings of Tizianello, Pittoni and a few sculptures attributed to Marchiori, these are only a few of the remaining items which survived the war. Nearby Alano, Egidio Forcellini was born (1688-1768), he was a famous latinist, who was an author of the Latin language and grammar: there is an obelisk with a few of his quotes over the Tegorzo at the beginning of the old bridge that holds his memory. There are also two little towns nearby: Colmirano and Campo, on the opposite shore of the Calcino Stream. There are many possible excursions, for example the ones that climb the Spinoncia (1296 m) and Primion (1026 m) mountains. This area is very well connected with a network of dirt roads and military paths to Mount Grappa. From Alano, there is a carriage road which coasts the Ornic Stream and it continues on the opposite side of it all the way to the top of Mount Tomba: from here, it is possible to come back towards Cavaso.
