Accessibility This used to be the ancient Castrum Laebatii of the Romans and of this name there is still a stone with an inscription dedicated to the roman Emperor Nero now held in the city hall entrance. In the county of Castellavazzo there is the town of Codissago where the memory of one of the most significant activities of this town and its people is still alive: the drifting over the Piave River of rafts that for centuries have connected the Belluno area to Venice and allows the delivery of precious wood and other materials. Here, many generations of people wrote touching pages of their history, an history made of sacrifices, engagements, commitment, expertise in "moving" the tree trunks and guiding the rafts. Today, many historical festivals keep the memory of this time alive and it conserves the important historical richness by teaching younger generations this fine art. There is also a very precious museum that celebrates this vocation.
