Longarone
|
|
Accessibility It lies at the confluence in the Piave River of the streams to Maè and Vajont, sadly known for the catastrophe of October 9, 1963. Since that date, the village has been completely rebuilt right in front of the town where the old town used to be. Down in the valley, next to the Piave shores, there is an industrial area that is the center for the entire local economy. There is a stadium, swimming pool, and fair center. Longarone was recently reborn next to the church, built ten years ago by Giovanni Michelucci and inspired by the Calvary and it has two double-stacked amphitheaters.
