From Feltre to Vas (15 km) while on the state road in the direction of Treviso, make a right from the train station of Quero and cross the bridge over Piave River located over the town of Vas.
The town is concentrated in a little valley over the left shore of the river and is protected by Mt. Vallina (1073 m), the last descendant of Mt. Cesen (1569 m). In this county, there are also the villages of Scalon, Caorera and Marziai.
Vas is known for the events that happened there during the first World War 1915-1918: in fact, there is an interesting collection of findings there and in Caorera, there is an organized exhibition that has a memorial ceremony on August 15 hosted by the "Madonnina del Piave".
This territory first belonged to the Da Romano Family and then belonged to the Campese Monastery. The Venetian Gradenigo Family built a villa and a little rectory here in a beautiful position over the river shore and with the rocky mountains of Castelir just behind it (a wedding dress of one of the Gradenigo women was donated to the church and is still kept as a liturgical vest). The sight of such positioning was a little curious in the past, because there used to be a rocky pinnacle, which resembled the Dolomite formation right next to it. Now, the pinnacle has been taken down. In the 1600's, the Gradenigo Family founded a paper mill that was rebuilt in 1826 and updated by Giovanni Marsura (then Zuliani), this activity continued until a few years ago. Then, the factory was completely changed and what is left now hosts a fish-breeding farm.
The three villages rise above the main town over the left shore of the river. They are little conglomerations of houses attached to the steep sides of Mt. Cesen, and their economy is based on agricultural activity. The provincial road that in Busche enters into the state road to Feltre and Belluno connects them. The provincial road crosses Vas and the Piave River by a suspended bridge. Then it connects again with the Feltre state road in the direction of Treviso.
From Vas to Quero, just past the Piave River above the town, you reach the state road heading toward Treviso. Pass the train station and make a right. Ascend the road and you will promptly arrive in Quero (or cross the Piave River at the bottom of the valley and then utilize the state road heading toward Treviso, afterwards, follow the stretch of road that is curved, make a right and ascend to Quero).
