Accessibility By road: the main entrance of Veneto's plain is by highway A27 Mestre - Belluno - Pian di Vedoia. At the end of this road, in the area of Longarone take state road 51 Alemagna following the direction for Tai di Cadore. Just before this town, take state road 51 bis, using the new ring road that runs by Pieve. Then follow directions for Calalo, up to Lozzo di Cadore. After a bridge, take state road 52 Carnica, and just before Auronzo, make a right turn to enter the Comelico tunnel ( about 4 km. long). At the end of the tunnel, you will be close to S.Stefano di Cadore. Another entrance to this town is from the north- west through the state road Carnica 52 which comes from Val Punteria and from S.Candido. The entrance from Friuli - Venezia - Giulia region and from Carnia is by state road 355 Val Degano. By train: Calalo di Cadore is the closest train station and the final stop in the train lines Padova-Belluno and Venezia - Ponte nelle Alpi. From Calalo there are many bus connections for Comelico. San Candido is connected with Bolzano and with the Austrian border. From S.Candido take the bus to Comelico. By air: the airport in Venice is well connected with the ring road to highway A27.

Historical information During the dominion of the Venetian Republic, the main family of this town was the Poli's family, famous for the wood trade and the profession of public notary. Giacomo and Giovan Battista Poli, in 1663, gave to the financially troubled Serenissima banks, one hundred thousand Ducats. Therefore, they obtained a noble title which was celebrated with the construction of a sumptuous villa that now is the city hall. In the community belong also the small villages of Costalta, Valle, Presenaio and Mare.
