Historical information
All of the territory of Zoldo since ancient times was characterized by its mining activity and for its mineral melting ovens. Zoldo Alto also claims a strong tradition in this field. In fact, in the XIV century there were already the first ovens. Some toponyms think that this inclination is to be found in the local language where the word Fusine, which comes from the dialect "fosina", means forge. In addition to the mining activities and iron work tradition for the Serenissima Venetian Republic, the residents of Zoldo are also known for their homemade ice-cream that is now known all over the world.

Useful information
The main towns in this county are: Pecol, Mareson, Pianaz, Fusine, Coi, Brusadaz, Costa, and Goima. There are other smaller villages and residential areas in beautiful places from where people can enjoy nice panoramas. The exceptional natural wonders are employed in the tourist activity. Zoldo Alto in fact, has many hotels, restaurants, refuges, Alpine huts and other many public places which improve and increase the hospitality of this town. Here, the winter vacation allows people to ski for many kilometers reaching also the towns of Alleghe, Selva di Cadore. The same ski tracks are the ones that belong to the Dolomite Superski. In the churches and in the old villas of Zoldo Alto there are kept many priceless pieces of work by artists such as Tiziano, Besarel, and Brustolon. One should also visit the Museum in Goima at Gavaz (the old elementary school) for the tradition and folklore of this area. This Museum was created about fifteen years ago. The goal is to preserve the historic, folkloristic, linguistic and economic patrimony of these towns. The main attraction in the museum are the tools connected with the agricultural, wood, mining and textile activity. All of this is on display in an old typical Zolda home.
